Maira Kalman

Chicken Soup, Boots. 1993.  Maira is one of my heroes. I met her briefly years ago after hearing her speak at a Design Conference in Las Vegas. She was witty and self-effacing. I was also lucky enough to assign her a couple of illustrations for the magazine I was working on at the time, Shape. She won us an award for her work!

 

Gate ideas

I saw this on the CABoom house tour in 2006 and loved the idea. Wonder how the door has held up through 5 years of weather...

I believe this is from Dwell Magazine in 2007 or earlier.  I ended up using this gate as inspiration when I built my back gate.
